Ghana President the ‘most nepotistic leader in the world’ – Opposition (Watch Video).
Broadcast Ghana gathered from the foreign media what has been reported of President Akufo Addo’s government following the press conference the biggest opposition party NDC held.
The above was the headline of a Malawian news medium(faceofmalawi.com) describing President Akufo Addo as the most nepotistic leader in the world.
In furtherance, the report stated that: “The largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of appointing over fifty (50) of his relatives in his administration including the entire nuclear family of his Executive Secretary, Nana Asante Bediatuo”.
“At the party’s Moment of Truth press conference on Tuesday, National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, noted that Mr. Bediatuo’s mother, father, brother, and sister are all part of the Akufo-Addo government – after describing the President as the most nepotistic leader in the world”.
In more detail, it continued as the party also named Ministers such as; “Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; Roads Minister, Mr Amoako Atta, and Works and Housing Minister, Mr Samuel Atta Akyea as being some of the immediate family members of the President who are all occupying key positions in his government.
According to Sammy Gyamfi who addressed the media, “After our meticulous investigations into appointments made by President Akufo-Addo since the year 2017, we submit that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government is the most nepotistic government in the sixty-two-year history of Ghana and we dare say the world”.
“Even Idi Amin Dada – the Butcher of Uganda, Jean-Bedel Bokassa and Mobutu Sese Seko – the looter of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) will envy President Akufo-Addo’s unprecedented brand of nepotism and clannism,” he said.
NEPOTISM
“Simply defined, nepotism is the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs. The practice is considered to be unethical, largely due to its conflict with the values of fairness and good governance. In governance, nepotism is even more dangerous due to its potential to compromise transparency and the fight against corruption as we have seen under this Akufo-Addo government.
