I won't endorse any candidate in NDC Tamale Central primaries - Inusah Fuseini

The Tamale Central Member of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini will not endorse any candidate in the National Democratic Congress’ upcoming parliamentary primaries as he bows out of Parliament at the end of 2020.

The MP, who has been representing the people of Tamale Central since 2006, told Citi News he believes the constituency should be free to elect anyone who can take over from him.

“If you choose a successor, you are perpetuating yourself in office. I don’t want to perpetuate myself and force myself on the people of Tamale Central through another person. I want to give them a free option. A good leader is one who creates opportunities for many other leaders to emerge.”

Mr. Fuseini did not pick nomination forms to contest in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries confirming his intent to step down from Parliament.

At the close of nominations on Friday, July 12, 2019, three persons had picked forms to contest the primaries for the Tamale Central constituency.

They are Ibrahim Murtala, Hanan Gundadow, and Alhaji Alhassan Adam.

Inusah Fuseini became a Member of Parliament through a by-election in 2006 after the then incumbent, Wayo Seini defected from the NDC to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He successfully held on to his seat in 2008 with 66% of the votes cast and retained the seat in 2012 with 61% and in 2016 with 60% of votes cast.

He will have held the seat for 14 years by the time he exits Parliament in 2020.
