Central Region: Hundreds homeless after 4-hour-long rain

A heavy rainstorm that broke out in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) municipality in the Central Region on Thursday, has left hundreds homeless.
The rains started around 10 pm and flooded homes up to the knee level.
The displaced residents have appealed for assistance.
Joy News’ Central Region Correspondent, Richard Kwadwo Nyako, reports that the rains lasted for at least four hours caused incalculable damage.
“Authorities are unable to put a figure on the damage to the destruction to homes, farms and other valuable. It is really an extensive damage,” Richard reported Friday.
Electricity supply had to cut to the area to prevent further catastrophe when the flood waters come into contact with power transformers
“Some residents had to put up with relatives in neighbouring communities,” Richard explained.

The KEEA is not new to devastating floods caused by heavy rains.
The area recorded ten rain-related deaths since the rains began in June this year.
Two women and an eight-year-old girl died in June at Kissi Kwahekrom in the KEEA when a collapsing wall fell on them.
